University of Kansas prepares for second commencement during construction at ‘The Booth’
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Students at the University of Kansas will officially become graduates during a commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 18. The tradition of graduating inside David Booth Memorial Stadium continues in a stadium actively under construction, for the second consecutive year.
KCTV5 captured drone footage above the stadium, showing several crews working on the exterior. The stage and seats were already set up on the field as of Thursday morning.
Renovations at ‘The Booth’ started in December 2023. At the time, KU officials said the stadium would be complete sometime in 2025.
The football team is scheduled to start its season back in Lawrence come August 2025. The Jayhawks played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium during the 2024 football season.
