KC pitmasters provide relief to Kentucky tornado victims
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Operation BBQ Relief is providing meals to tornado victims after tragedy struck a small town in Kentucky.
City leaders in Laurel County, Kentucky, have confirmed over 20 deaths after a tornado touched down on the night of Friday, May 16.
Operation BBQ Relief is now providing relief to the area to feed victims and first responders. This nonprofit has deployed to Kentucky four times since 2021, providing more than 200,000 meals to victims of disaster.

Whether it’s a flood, winter storm, or tornado, this nonprofit comes equipped with mobile pits, kitchens, and volunteers to aid victims. The nonprofit has served over 11 million meals in 42 states since its beginning in 2011.
In 2024, Operation BBQ Relief responded to communities affected by Hurricane Beryl, and in 2025, they responded to Malibu, California, after the wildfires.
