Missouri man charged after 87 grams of meth found in vehicle stolen from Utah
PLATTE CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri man found in a stolen vehicle from Utah has been charged with trafficking drugs after more than 87 grams of meth was found in his possession.
Platte County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Tuesday, May 13, indicate that Rock A. Hunt, 64, of Platte City, has been charged in connection with drug trafficking.
A probable cause statement filed by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office revealed that just after 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, law enforcement officials stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier spotted near Highway 273 and Ryan Ct. with no license plate. The driver also failed to maintain a single lane.
During the stop, investigators said they found a temporary Utah license plate taped to the rear window. A check of the tag revealed the vehicle to have been stolen out of Utah. As a result, the driver, identified as Hunt, was taken into custody.
During his arrest, Hunt allegedly itted there was methamphetamine in the car but claimed it belonged to the ed owner of the vehicle. A search revealed a total of 87.5 grams of methamphetamine and 9.5 grams of cocaine.
As a result, Hunt has been charged with trafficking drugs in the second degree, tampering with a motor vehicle and driving while revoked. As of Saturday, May 17, he remains behind bars on a $100,000 bond.
A bond review hearing has been scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20. No further information has been released.
