3 teens taken to hospital after crash south of Lake Lotawana
LOTAWANA, Mo. (KCTV) - Three teenagers were taken to an area hospital after a two-vehicle crash on a Missouri highway south of Lake Lotawana.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just after 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, emergency crews were called to the area of southbound Missouri Highway 7 and Highway 50 with reports of a 2-vehicle crash.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 23-year-old Lee’s Summit woman had been driving a 2013 Lincoln MKZ when she failed to stop at a traffic control device.
At the same time, State Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Oak Grove attempted to make a left-hand turn onto the westbound ramp in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala and was hit by the Lincoln.
As a result, emergency crews said an 18-year-old female was taken to Centerpoint Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old girl from Pleasant Hill and a 17-year-old from Peasant Hill were both taken to Lee’s Summit Medical Center with minor injuries.
Investigators noted that everyone involved had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage as a result. No further information has been released.
