KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Summer is right around the corner, which means Science City will soon be one of the most popular destinations in Kansas City. However, not every kid is a fan of large crowds and loud noises, so Science City is continuing its efforts to make everyone feel included.

For roughly two years, Science City has offered Sensory Sunday’s on the third Sunday of every other month. It gives families an opportunity to check out the exhibits with less noise, softer lights and smaller crowds.

Maggie Bucci brought her family to Science City for the second time on Sunday. She said her oldest son has high-functioning autism, and Sensory Sunday is a great opportunity for him and her entire family.

“The siblings, other friends and family get to see their friends thrive,” Bucci said. “Autism sensory differences aren’t typically something you can see outward, so with this opportunity they’re just getting to be kids.”
