Investigation opens after body of boater recovered fom Lake Quivira
LAKE QUIVIRA, Kan. (KCTV) - An investigation has opened after the body of a boat operator was recovered from Lake Quivira after a crash over the weekend.
The Mayor of Lake Quivira, David McCullagh, says that around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, emergency crews were called to the 130 block of Lakeshore Drive South at Lake Quivira with a request for a water rescue.
First responders said they learned that a boat accident had occurred as they began to search for a missing operator. Just after 7 p.m., the body of the missing individual was recovered from the lake.
Officials noted that an investigation into the matter remains ongoing with no further details available at this time.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim,” said Mayor McCullagh.
