LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD/Gray News) - For triplet siblings Cate, Ava and Truman Crawford, it always felt like Texas Tech was where they were meant to be.

They’re from Round Rock but their grandparents, Joe and Betty, met at Texas Tech. The trio describes what it was like back in 2012 visiting Lubbock for the first time.

“I think the first stop we hit was Red Raider Outfitters and I think he cleared out the entire store for us and our cousins,” Ava said. “We got so much Texas Tech gear, so that was definitely a memory that really stuck with us.”

The Crawford siblings say growing up in a loving and caring environment allowed them to grow and become better people.

“Growing up was really fun,” Cate said. “Our parents were the best and we had a really fun, but individual experience for each of us really focusing on yes, we are triplets, but we’re also our own individuals.”

In 2021, the triplets began their classes at Texas Tech and all three are now graduating with a degree from the College of Media and Communication.

For Truman, it’s public relations & strategic communication management. For Ava, it’s creative media industries, and for Cate, it’s digital media and professional communication.

“We’ve kind of gone through everything together in life,” Truman said. “High school graduation, turning 16, and getting your first license and all that. To have another monumental step in our life that we’ve all been able to do together, I think for all of us, it’s really valuable.”

Truman graduated six months ago and works for the Texas Senate working under Senator Brian Birdwell on the border security committee.

Cate previously had an internship with the Texas Workforce Commission and will now return to be a campaign coordinator for the Office of Media and Communications.

Ava plans to move back to Austin and is looking to pursue content creation.

While they embark on a new chapter in life, the trio say they’re grateful for their time in Lubbock and can’t wait to come back later in life to look back on all the good times they had in the Hub City.

“We’re just really excited and we’re gonna miss Texas Tech,” Cate said, “but I think it’s a good thing we’ll miss it cause that means it’s meant so much to us over the last four years.”
