Victim dies 2 days after being shot in Kansas City, declared as homicide
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Officers were dispatched to 73rd Street and South Benton Avenue on a shooting call on May 17, shortly after 4 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located the adult male victim in front of a residence on the block.
Officers requested help from EMS, who took the patient to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
After an initial investigation, the victim and an unknown suspect interacted in front of the residence, which escalated and led to the suspect shooting the victim.
The victim died from injuries on May 19. The investigation is now considered a homicide, and the investigation is ongoing. Later Monday afternoon, police identified the victim as 25-year-old Zackery Matthews.
