Blue Springs man charged after SUV rams into car with mother, child inside
ODESSA, Mo. (KCTV) - A Blue Springs man is behind bars after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into the car of a mother and child who were attempting to feed their chickens.
Lafayette County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, May 19, indicate that Traves B. Gann, 46, of Blue Springs, has been charged in connection with using a motor vehicle as a deadly weapon.
A probable cause document filed by the Odessa Police Department revealed that around 11 a.m. on Sunday, a woman and her child arrived at the police station to make an emergency 911 report. They reported that they had been at Gann’s property, an ex-boyfriend of the mother, to care for their chickens.
However, the pair told investigators they spotted Gann in a silver Chevrolet Tahoe as they sat in their own car. Gann allegedly drove into his yard and rammed into the parked car. The impact threw the child, who had not had a chance to put a seatbelt on, across the car. Neither victim was found to have been injured as a result.
Law enforcement officials noted that significant damage could be seen on the victims’ vehicle. They also found several text messages from Gann after the incident that included both apologies and death threats.
The Police Department said Gann later returned to his home, where he was taken into custody. As a result, he has been charged with domestic assault, armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child and armed criminal action.
A hearing has not yet been scheduled in the case. As of Tuesday, May 20, Gann remains behind bars. No further information has been released.
