KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A driver who attempted to avoid a traffic stop but crashed instead is behind bars after drones and K-9s were used to find them in the Northland.

The Platte County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office tells KCTV5 News that around noon on Tuesday, May 20, law enforcement officials attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near 64th and Chatham Ave. However, the driver refused to pull over and initiated a chase.

Investigators said the suspect vehicle crashed shortly before the driver ran from the wreckage. Multiple deputies responded with K-9s and drones. They were taken into custody just after the additional units were deployed.

Law enforcement officials noted that the suspect, who remains unnamed, is on a 24-hour investigative hold pending formal charges. No further information has been released.
