KC man to spend 30 years in prison after selling hundreds of pounds of drugs
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City man will spend three decades in prison after he was found to have sold hundreds of pounds of narcotics as part of an area drug ring.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri announced on Tuesday, May 20, that Codi J. Monteer, 38, of Kansas City, Missouri, has been sentenced for his role in the ring.
On Oct. 8, 2024, court documents revealed that Monteer pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute narcotics, maintaining a drug-involved premises, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug conspiracy and felon in possession of a firearm.
Law enforcement officials indicated that Monteer’s participation in the scheme lasted about a year as he was responsible for the distribution of at least 273 lbs of methamphetamine, 1.5 lbs of fentanyl and 3.5 lbs of heroin.
On one occasion, of the Kansas Highway Patrol said Monteer led them on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of about 145 mph. The chase did not end until two of his tires came off the vehicle. During the pursuit, drugs were thrown from the vehicle.
Investigators noted that Monteer was an associate of Autumn Dicks, Ian Hazel, They Kelley, Marc Downs and Jamison Hopson-Stephens. They have already been sentenced for their roles.
Law enforcement officials indicated that Monteer was also an associate of Davion Williams, Curtis Lewis, Daniel Anderson and Aaron Dorsey. They have all pleaded guilty and await sentencing.
Court records noted that Monteer was ordered to serve 30 years in prison without parole as a result. No further information has been released.
