KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Charges have been filed against two women believed to be behind thefts that cost metro area stores thousands of dollars.

Clay County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Friday, May 16, indicate that Tiffany R. Long, 27, and Lakristiana C. C. Guy, 26, of Kansas City, have both been charged with stealing.

A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that on April 2, 2023, law enforcement officials were ed by a Kohl’s employee who reported a theft at the 8500 N. Madison Ave. location.

A report filed by the company indicated that security footage caught the theft on video around 1:30 p.m. on March 28, 2023. A silver Dodge arrived in the parking lot before two women entered the store. They both ran out with more than $1,000 in merchandise and drove away.

Investigators noted that Kohl’s employees believe the two women to be behind multiple thefts, however, they remained unidentified. However, a license plate number snagged from the security footage led them to identify Long as a suspect.

Throughout the investigation, law enforcement officials said they believed Long’s accomplice to be behind the theft of a Dick’s Sporting Goods at 8665 NW Prairie View Rd. This time, more than $1,150 in merchandise was taken before the suspect jumped into the enger seat of the suspect vehicle.

On April 30, 2023, investigators said they requested they be notified if another agency made with Long. In June, photos of Long’s accomplice led them to identify her as Lakristiana Guy.

In August, KD said it was notified that Long had been arrested on an unrelated theft charge in Lee’s Summit. During questioning she denied the Kansas City theft and denied knowing that Guy had stolen from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Court documents noted that Guy was charged in May. She is scheduled for an initial appearance at 9 a.m. on June 10. If convicted, state statutes dictate that both could face up to 7 years in prison and be ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

A criminal summons was issued to Long on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with an initial appearance expected at 1:30 p.m. on June 12. No further information has been released.
