City of Lenexa approves final designs of Ad Astra Pool
LENEXA, Kan. (KCTV) - Lenexa residents will get to experience a completely rebuilt public pool beginning next summer.
This week, the city approved final designs for the new Ad Astra Pool, after the original pool needed a full reconstruction.
“We reached a point where repairs weren’t enough -- it needed to be rebuilt from the ground up to continue serving the community safely and effectively,” said Logan Wagler, the director of Lenexa Parks & Recreation.
Funds from Lenexa’s 3/8-cent sales tax will help deliver the brand-new facility, which will feature:
- A zero-depth entry area with nearby shade structures
- Three 25-yard lap lanes for fitness and swim practice
- A deep water area with two diving boards
- A 180-foot current channel
- Shaded areas throughout the deck
- A brand-new bathhouse and concession building

The city also said the pool project includes the construction of a new access road in the area of 83rd Street and Maurer Road. In total, the final guaranteed price for the project is just under $8.1 million.
Construction is expected to begin in June with Lenexa officials saying the goal is to open for the 2026 summer season.
