Crews investigate cause of afternoon house fire in the Northland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Crews continue to investigate what caused a house in the Northland to go up in flames on Wednesday afternoon.
The Kansas City Fire Department says that just after 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, emergency crews were called to the area of NE 89th St. and N. Evanston Ave. with reports of a house fire.
When first responders arrived, they said they found smoke and flames billowing from a 2-story home. An attack from the inside started with two hoses as crews searched the structure for anyone left inside. Searches came back all clear as the occupants were able to safely self-evacuate.
Firefighters noted that no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which, as of 4:45 p.m., remains under control. Crews remain in salvage and overhaul operations while investigators continue to search for the cause of the blaze.
