PLATTE CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Two men face multiple charges after they allegedly led law enforcement officials on a chase with a stolen vehicle and hundreds of dollars of stolen tools inside.

Platte County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Sunday, May 18, indicate that Tyler D. Case, 25, of Platte City, and Taylor R. Keeth, 34, of Smithville, have been charged in connection with the incident.

A probable cause statement filed by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office revealed that around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, law enforcement officials were called to Running Horse Ranch & Home at 2601 Running Horse Rd. with reports of a theft.

Dispatch indicated that an off-duty Platte City Police Department Officer called to report a 2004 Mitsubishi Outback had left the store with 2 white male suspects and $1,540 in stolen tools inside. The vehicle was also found to have been stolen out of Olathe, Kansas.

The off-duty officer said he began to follow the stolen car south on I-29. Emergency lights were activated when the driver was clocked at 60 mph in a 40 mph zone, however, the driver, later identified as Case, refused to stop and attempted to speed off.

Law enforcement officials noted that the chase that ensued reached speeds of up to 90 mph before Case crashed near the American Truck Historical Society at 10380 Ambassador Dr. Case and Keeth bailed and began to run before they were taken into custody a short distance away.

Investigators indicated that the stolen tools were found inside the car. Surveillance footage from the ranch also caught the theft on tape.

As a result, Case and Keeth have both been charged with stealing and resisting arrest. As of Wednesday, May 21, Case and Keeth remain behind bars on a $25,000 bond each.

A bond review hearing for Keeth has been set for 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27. Case is expected to appear for an arraignment at 9 a.m. the same day. No further information has been released.
