LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - An inmate at the Leavenworth County Jail was sentenced to more than a decade in prison Wednesday for attacking an officer.

Tyrell Davon James Clark, 37, was sentenced to 130 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for a June 30, 2024, attack at the Leavenworth County Jail. Court documents said Clark began an incident with officers at the jail when he began covering the window of his jail cell at noon.

Clark refused to comply when officers attempted to collect his lunch tray.

Court documents said when officers entered his cell, Clark failed to follow orders and threw urine on one of them. Shortly after 1 p.m., Clark struck an officer in the head with his tray, punched the officer and placed him in a chokehold.

A taser was used to subdue him.

Clark’s sentencing in the Kansas Department of Corrections will run consecutively with his previous sentences, authorities said.
