Kansas City crews clean up debris in Indian Creek after complaints from residents
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A pile of debris on Indian Creek near Watts Mill has been causing business owners many issues for more than a year. Wednesday, city crews cleaned it up after KCTV5′s story aired, and questioned the city about what they were going to do about it.
City Parks and Rec removed debris out of the Indian Creek in Watts Mill.
Business owners like Jasper Mirable have been asking the city to address this issue for months, worried about flooding and overall people’s safety.
“That’s all we ask for as taxpayers of of Kansas City. Just respond to us and show us you are concerned also. There are a lot of problems in Kansas City. This is minor I guess, but you know what, they did it.”
The creek is notorious for serious flooding issues, wiping out the parking lot where Jasper’s restaurant sits in years past. Owners said the pile is only making things worse.

Mirable claimed he first noticed the pile over one year ago, but didn’t make calls to the city until March of 2025.
“I was very hesitant. I did not think it was going to get done in less than 24 hours,’ he said. “They gave me a couple of options of what they were going to do, but they responded and got it done. That’s all we ask for and look at it, it’s unbelievable.”
Mirable said he hopes the city understands that when residents call, they take action and take people seriously.
The city encourages the community to call Parks and Rec at 311 with any concerns or requests for service.
