Kansas City felon could face more prison time after firearm found in his home
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City man who previously spent time in prison could be incarcerated again after he was found to be illegally in possession of a firearm.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri announced on Wednesday, May 21, that Vinol Wilson, 50, of Kansas City, Missouri, has been charged in a federal complaint with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents indicated that Wilson made his first appearance in federal court after his Monday arrest.
The affidavit revealed that the Jackson County Drug Task Force began an investigation into drug sales in the metro area. identified Wilson as the source of supply for MDMA, methamphetamine and cocaine.
Additionally, since 2022, law enforcement officials noted that Wilson has been the constant target of a dog-fighting investigation initiated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The affidavit also indicated that a search was executed at Wilson’s home on Tuesday with the help of the Kansas City Police Department. Inside, investigators discovered a firearm with a round in the chamber and 29 in the magazine.
As Wilson was previously convicted of a federal drug charge in Kansas, he had been barred from the possession of a firearm. No further information has been released.
