KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The 2026 World Cup is just over a year out, and Kansas City’s World Cup team is looking for volunteers.

Starting Wednesday, May 21, anyone can their interest in volunteering. This is not an application to volunteer. Official applications will open in August 2025.

Organizers ask anyone hoping to volunteer at a party, practice, event, or match to create an and make sure organizers are aware of their interest.

Volunteers wanted: KC 2026 puts out call for World Cup help

Below are the volunteer requirements:

  • Volunteers are needed for 40 days
  • Volunteers must commit to nine shifts of eight hours each
  • Volunteers will not work more than four days per week
  • Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older

“You’ll be able to tell your children or maybe even your children’s children you were a part of something that changed the trajectory of our region,” said KC 2026 CEO Pam Kramer. “Something we think is worth the investment in time.”

FIFA is only allowing hopeful volunteers to at this point. Options to select specific events to volunteer for will be available later in the summer.
