Missouri woman seriously injured during head-on crash with I-70 barrier wall
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - A Missouri woman was seriously injured during a head-on collision with an interstate barrier wall in Kansas and taken to a nearby hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, emergency crews were called to an area of eastbound I-70 in Douglas County with reports of a single-vehicle crash.
When first responders arrived, they said they found Michele Uttley, 69, of Blue Springs, Missouri, had been driving a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan eastward on the interstate when she lost control of the vehicle.
Troopers said the van veered off the roadway to the left, where it hit a median barrier wall head-on. The impact caused the Dodge to spin into the right lane.
Emergency crews indicated that Uttley was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time. No further information has been released.
