Two men charged in deadly shooting at Kansas City gas station
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Prosecutors charge two men in connection with a deadly shooting at a Kansas City gas station.
K’Vontaye Redmond and Lamont Buchanan are each charged with:
- Second-degree murder
- Armed criminal action
Police responded to a gas station near East 63rd Street and Blue Parkway Drive on May 10. They found a man suffering from a gunshot-related injury. The victim later died from his injuries at a hospital.
Detectives reviewed video from the area. It shows Buchanan grabbed the victim and pointed a gun at him as he walked out of the gas station, according to court records.
The victim tried to back up and pull his own gun, but dropped it, according to information provided by the prosecutor’s office.
A probable cause statement accuses Redmond also pointed a gun at the victim as he lay on the ground. Buchanan picked up the victim’s gun and both suspects ran from the gas station.
Both men are in custody.
Buchanan is held without bond while Redmond is held on $100,000 bond.
