KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Not more than two weeks ago, some Grandview, Missouri, and south Johnson County, Kansas, residents spotted a black bear.

The first report came from a Grandview Police Officer. The officer spotted the bear around 5:45 a.m. near the Taco Bell at the West Outer Road and Main Street. Then again near 13th and Skyline.

Surveillance video at the Grass Pad business in Stillwell, Kansas, captured the bear near its parking lot.

There have been two reported bear sightings in the Kansas City area within the last few days.

But recently, the Missouri Department of Conservation has learned that the bear may have been injured.

On Friday morning, a spokesperson for the department confirmed to KCTV5 that video has shown the bear to be limping.

"I encourage people that see this bear to give it some space and let us know where and when it was seen," spokesperson Lucas Bond said.
