AVA, Mo. (KY3) - Douglas County investigators said a woman was critically injured during an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened on Wednesday around 6 p.m. Deputies attempted to arrest Susan Sinclair, who was wanted on felony charges. Sheriff Chris Degase said the woman fired several shots at deputies. The deputies fired back, hitting Sinclair in the head.

“When they made entry to get her, she fired at least two rounds, which caused them to return fire, they retreated to a foyer area, which they had gone into before you get to the main door,” said Sheriff Degase. “So they retreated completely outside of the home, she told them that she had two guns and she wasn’t going to put them down.”

Emergency crews airlifted Sinclair to a St. Louis hospital. Sheriff Degase said no deputies suffered any injuries.

The neighboring Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The sheriff placed the deputies involved on istrative leave pending the investigation.

“We just turned over two body cams and one dash cam to Christian County, and we do have the s, so everything is on the dash cam and body cams,” said Sheriff Degase.
