KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating a series of road rage incidents that happened in North Kansas City that could be linked to the same pair.

Trevette McKnight was driving back into Kansas City from a week-long vacation in Chicago on Sunday. He said he was on Interstate 29 South when he was caught between the middle of two cars.

“They went from the enger side towards the driver’s. They were going back and forth. I’m in the middle of all of this,” he said.

McKnight said he was break-checked by a vehicle before he started getting shot. His 10-year-old daughter was in the car with him.

“There’s a kid in here, but you still chose to fire a gun for whatever reason you had,” he questioned.

He explained that he told his daughter to jump into the enger’s seat and get down. He said he continued to drive while he came face to face with a woman in a blue Nissan Versa sitting in the enger’s seat, who was firing a gun. Troopers confirmed a 22-year-old male was the driver.

McKnight said he got off an exit before cutting through a gas station parking lot and got back onto the interstate, but the pair kept following and shooting at him.

“I needed something heavy to throw at them,” he said. “I didn’t have anything else.” He threw his 32 oz Stanley Cup at the driver and the shooting stopped.

KCTV 5 spoke with MSHP, who explained they received multiple calls on Sunday starting at 4:43 pm describing a similar situation to McKnight’s.

They stated this is an ongoing investigation and encourage any information from the public.
