ARCHIE, Mo. (KCTV) - An Adrian man was airlifted to a Kansas City area hospital after a collision with a tree on a rural west-central Missouri roadway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23, emergency crews were called to the area of NW County Road 16502 and NW County Road 701, south of Archie, with reports of a single-vehicle crash.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 46-year-old Adrian man had been driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota south on the roadway when, for an unknown reason, he veered across the centerline and off the left side of the roadway.

State Troopers said the pickup continued into a tree, as the unrestrained driver was seriously injured. He was airlifted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators noted that the pickup was totaled in the crash. No further information has been released.
