Teacher arrested after parents pick up 4-year-old from school with blood alcohol content of 0.29, police say
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - A teacher in Alabama was arrested after a 4-year-old student in her care was taken to a hospital with a blood alcohol content of 0.29, according to authorities.
Tracy Walker, 56, is charged with aggravated child abuse, according to the Mobile County Metro Jail records.

The case came to light April 28 when the parents of a 4-year-old at Collins-Rhodes Elementary School took the child to USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital after picking her up from school severely ill.
During an interview, MCSO said the girl told detectives that her teacher had given her a drink that made her feel sick.
The girl spent two and a half days in the ICU after her family says she ingested a large amount of ethanol. She is now recovering at home.

The toxicology report showed the child’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was at a dangerous level of nearly 0.29. The MCSO said the amount exceeds the legal limit for an adult by more than 3.5 times.
According to the school’s website, Walker is a special education teacher.
Her bond was set at $25,000 and she has been placed on istrative leave.
MCSO said they have also interviewed the family, teachers at the school and medical professionals.
