Arrest warrant issued for Texas man accused of stealing $8K from Missouri mark
PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a man charged with stealing after thousands of dollars were sent to him for a pickup truck he never delivered.
Pettis County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Tuesday, May 20, indicate that Nathaniel Martinez Jr., 20, of Conroe, Texas, has been charged with the theft of thousands of dollars from a Missouri victim.
A probable cause statement filed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office revealed that on Oct. 1, 2024, an individual came in to report that Martinez had stolen more than $8,000 from him. The money had been sent as part of a transaction for a 2013 Ram 2500 that Martinez had promised.
However, after the money was sent and the victim went to get his new pickup, law enforcement officials said the property was found to have been gated, and all was lost with Martinez.
In November, investigators said they received an investigative subpoena for the the victim sent the stolen funds. That subpoena was not returned until April 2025 due to technical issues with the encryption. However, the results corroborated the victim’s chain of events.
Law enforcement officials said that since then, they have attempted multiple times to make with the Montgomery County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office, which has yet to respond. A warrant was issued for Martinez’s arrest on Wednesday.
As a result, court records revealed that Martinez has been charged with stealing more than $750. A crime punishable by up to 7 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
As of Monday, May 26, Martinez does not appear to have been taken into custody and a court appearance has not yet been set.
