Arrest warrant issued for NKC man accused of leaving child with black eye
NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a North Kansas City man after a child claimed he gave her a black eye when she was caught with marijuana.
Clay County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Friday, May 23, indicate that Jordan G. Brockman, 35, of North Kansas City, has been charged with child abuse.
A probable cause statement filed by the North Kansas City Police Department revealed that just after 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2025, law enforcement officials received a report of possible child abuse from a Children’s Service Worker. The caseworker alleged that on Feb. 4, Brockman hit a child in the face and left her with a black eye.
Law enforcement officials noted that when an adult asked the child what happened, she initially stated she ran into a door. However, the child’s mother reported that Brockman caught her with a marijuana pen and smacked her, dragged her across a hallway, held her against a wall, hit her again and left the child with a black eye.
Investigators indicated that a few days later, the child victim reported the same actions had happened during a forensic interview. During the investigation, it was also found that a woman Brockman had been living with left after a separate late-night disturbance that involved an infant.
When Brockman was ed by phone, NKD said he claimed the entire situation was an exaggeration. As of Friday, May 23, he has been charged with the abuse of a child. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 7 years behind bars and be ordered to pay a fine of up to $10,000.
Court documents revealed that a warrant was issued for Brockman’s arrest on Tuesday morning, May 27. He currently does not appear to be behind bars.
A hearing has not yet been set in the case. No further information has been released.
