Driver seriously injured after car goes airborne along I-29 near Platte City

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City man was seriously injured after his vehicle went airborne along I-29 and flipped near Platte City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, May 26, emergency crews were called to the area of I-29 and Missouri Highway 92 with reports of a single-vehicle crash.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 21-year-old Kansas City man had been driving a 2012 Honda Accord south on the interstate when he lost control. The Honda veered off the roadway and into a ditch, where it went airborne and flipped before it crashed back to the ground.

Emergency crews said the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was taken to North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries.

State Troopers noted that the Accord was totaled in the crash. No further information has been released.
