Family says 13-year-old killed in Memorial Day parade ‘leaves a hole that cannot be filled’
GREEN, Ohio. (WOIO/Gray News) - The family of the 13-year-old boy who died on Memorial Day says his “absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled.”
The Summit County Medical Examiner identified the teenager as Matthew Schultz.
The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Memorial Day.

Authorities say Matthew was riding on the Air Ninja Gym trailer with six other children, ages 7 to 13, with two adults walking alongside.
Officials say he then fell off and was struck by the wheels of the trailer.
Firefighters were on scene, and they immediately rushed the victim to Akron Children’s Hospital.
However, he died from his injuries.
The 13-year-old was described as a kind and caring boy who loved Star Wars and fruit snacks.
Danielle Paciorek, the Schultz family representative, said the family is grateful for the community’s .
“Matthew was just 13 years old, but in that short time, he brought a lifetime worth of joy to those who knew him. He was a bright light, full of curiosity, laughter and love,” said Paciorek.
She continued saying, “Matthew’s absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled.”
The city plans to share fundraidates on its website.
At this time, the city said it remains focused on ing the Schultz family but will conduct a review of parade policies in the future.
