Father drowns after rescuing son who fell into river while fishing, rescuers say

DENISON, Texas (KXII/Gray News) - A father lost his life after sacrificing his own to save his son over the weekend in Texas.
According to Denison Fire Rescue crews, on Sunday evening, the father and son were fishing next to the Denison Dam when the child fell into the Red River.
Rescuers said the father pulled his son out of the water, but he was then swept under with the current and never resurfaced.
Crews recovered the man’s body.
The child and father were not wearing life vests, officials said.
The father and son were not immediately identified.
