Free movies under the stars to grace silver screen at metro Discovery Center
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Free movie screenings under the Kansas City stars and lights are expected to bring community from all over to a metro area Discovery Center.
The Missouri Department of Conservation says that a partnership with the Kansas City Police Department is set to bring a series of free outdoor movie screenings to the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center over the summer.
Department leaders noted that the movies are expected to be shown one Friday per month at 8:30 p.m. as the sun sets. Dates and titles are as follows:
- June 6 - Twisters
- June 11 - Moana 2
- Aug. 1 - Wild Robot
Partnership indicated that all screenings will be free and open to the public. Registration is not required as movies will be projected on an outdoor screen on the south lawn of the nature center. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, however, popcorn and beverages will be made available.
Naturalists said they will begin each screening with a short introductory program to connect moviegoers with the nature around them. The Discovery Center and nature shop will be open for visitors to explore before and during the movie.
In the case of bad weather, MDC provided that screenings may be moved indoors. The Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center can be found at 4750 Troost Ave.
