KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One person is in critical condition and several others were injured in a Tuesday morning crash in Kansas City.

It happened just before 11 a.m. in the area of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Troost.

A preliminary investigation from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said the crash happened when a white Volkswagen Tiguan traveling southbound on Troost crossed into oncoming traffic at the intersection of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Troost. There, it struck a northbound black Volkswagen Tiguan.

The white Volkswagen then hit a white BMW X3 before it came to rest, KD said, noting the impact of the crash caused the BMW to rotate and hit a northbound black Dodge Challenger. A northbound Dodge Charger was struck and damaged by debris from the crash, police said.

Police said the unrestrained rear-seat enger of the white Volkswagen was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

The driver and front seat enger of the white Volkswagen, as well as the driver of the black Volkswagen and rear-seat enger of the BMW were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the BMW, the driver of the Challenger and the driver of the Charger were all uninjured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing. KD said the investigation will include suspected impairment for the driver of the white Volkswagen.
