Kauffman Stadium to host Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby X
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Home runs will be flying out of Kauffman Stadium later this season.
Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby X is scheduled to stop in Kansas City for the first time. It will be the first time Home Run Derby X will be held in a Major League ballpark.
MLB’s Home Run Derby X is a 3-on-3 competition built around hitting and catches. Each player gets a single at-bat. Teams earn offensive points for home runs and defensive points for catches.
The event in Kansas City will coincide with a special celebration that is planned to honor the 10-year anniversary of the Royals 2015 postseason run. The Home Run event on Sept. 13, will feature five stars from the World Series team:
- Alex Gordon
- Lorenzo Cain
- Mike Moustakas
- Eric Hosmer
- Ben Zobrist
Other MLB stars who played in the 2015 postseason will also be involved in Home Run Derby X, including:
- Daniel Murphy
- Michael Cuddyer
- Other former players will be named soon
Amanda Lorenz and Tiare Jennings will represent women’s baseball and professional softball teams in the contest.
The Kansas City stop will be the sixth and final qualifier on the 2025 Home Run Derby X tour. It will determine who advances to the final in Salt Lake City.
Tickets for the event at Kauffman Stadium are available starting May 30, 2025. Royals Season Ticket have access to a pre-sale starting May 29.
