KCK native Tyon Grant-Foster commits to Gonzaga for potential final season of college basketball

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Kansas City, Kansas, native Tyon Grant-Foster’s long and winding college basketball career has a potential end destination.
Grant-Foster on Wednesday announced his commitment to Gonzaga, according to a report from On3′s Joe Tipton. The commitment comes following two seasons at Grand Canyon.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound guard is seeking to use a waiver to play another season of college basketball. His college career began at Indian Hills Junior College in 2018. After starring there, Grant-Foster transferred to Kansas, where he averaged just 8.1 minutes and scored 3.1 points per game.
Because of NCAA rules, the 2020-21 season Grant-Foster spent at Kansas did not count against his eligibility. In 2021-22, the Schlagle High School product transferred to DePaul, where he played in one game and suffered cardiac arrest, forcing him to miss all of two seasons.

When he returned to the court, Grant-Foster did so at Grand Canyon for the 2023-24 season. He became the 2023-24 WAC Player of the Year with the Lopes, averaging 20.1 points per game and leading the school to an NCAA Tournament upset over Saint Mary’s.
Last season, Grant-Foster was an All-WAC selection for Grand Canyon and averaged 14.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. The Lopes also made the NCAA Tournament as a 13 seed and lost in the first round to Maryland.
In all, Grant-Foster has played in 83 Division I games and averaged 13.8 points per game on 42.6% shooting. Grant-Foster will turn 26 in March.
