KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A show that has helped stitch the fashion community together in Kansas City will celebrate its 25th anniversary in the Crossroads.

Leaders of the West 18th Street Fashion Show have announced that the event plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary spectacle, Mercurial Summer, at 7:30 p.m. on June 14 at 116 W. 18th St.

Organizers noted that the show has been a successful platform for garment-focused artists, musicians, designers, cinematographers and photographers since 1999. As Kansas City’s most historic fashion production, the show invites past alumni and new visionaries to explore the nuances of fashion and technology.

According to , the show ties in elements of storytelling to respond to current events. It will now return to its roots with a 100-foot runway to showcase the exploration of technology, communication and futurism.

Leaders indicated that the show invites designers to explore non-traditional materials, collaborate with tech-forward companies, and consider their relationship with the digital and analog world.. The anniversary show extends beyond an homage to its past, but allows for self-presentation and the elevation of the Midwest aesthetic.

The West 18th Street Fashion Show has been dubbed an integral part of the city’s creative community by those who have helped build it into what it is.
