Workers found the overflow around 9:15 a.m. Thursday. It happened because of an operational failure and has since been fixed.

Water quality crews are testing the creek water and are working to clean up the water to prevent further contamination.

The health department asks people to stay out of the creek water and keep pets from the water. There is a potential risk of E. coli exposure due to the overflow.

This does not impact the public water system at all. Tap water remains safe to use and drink according to the health department.
