Douglas County gas leak likely caused by crash

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - A hit-and-run crash caused a dangerous situation in the Lawrence area Friday morning.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a gas leak on 15th Street between East 1625 and East 1750 roads, east of Lawrence, around 9:30 a.m.
Deputies believe a driver hit the line and then drove away.
The gas company worked for hours to repair the damage. The road reopened around 2:15 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone who witnessed the crash to call the sheriff’s office at 785-843-0250.
