Kansas City motorcycle rider critically injured after crashing into utility pole

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man suffered critical injuries after hitting a utility pole while trying to escape police officers.
A traffic enforcement officer tried to stop a motorcycle for speeding at Independence and Garfield Avenues shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday. Police said the biker refused to stop.
The biker continued to speed away from the officer, according to investigators.
Police said the biker lost control and ran off the road and continued onto the sidewalk. When he tried to get back on the street he hit an electrical pole. Investigators said the impact threw the man off the motorcycle.
He is hospitalized with critical injuries.
