Mother-son duo accused of illegal towing indicted in multiple counties
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A mother-son duo have both now been indicted by public grand juries in each county where they have been accused of illegally towing and stealing motor vehicles.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Thursday, May 29, indicate that a second criminal summons has been issued to Lannette S. Adamson, the mother in a mother-son team accused of illegally towing vehicles in the Kansas City metro.
The move adds to filings made against both Adamsons in Platte County. Court documents noted that a public grand jury indicted Adamson on Thursday. The summons was issued and served to her on Friday for charges of stealing a motor vehicle and forgery.
Adamson was previously indicted by a public grand jury on charges of harassment, four counts of stealing a motor vehicle and four counts of forgery. The indictments follow claims that Adamson and her son, Donald, both owners of Metro Tow and Transport, illegally towed metro area vehicles and held them for ransom.
Adamson and her son allegedly towed vehicles from metro area apartment buildings and would file falsified ownership forms. She would allegedly leverage her positions as a property or security manager for area complexes to steal the vehicles. She is currently listed on nearly a dozen Kansas City Police Department reports for:
- Stolen vehicles
- Fraud
- Assault
- Harassment
- Property damage
- Burglary
- Arson
Meanwhile, court documents allege that Adamson’s son, Donald, is listed on 26 open KD reports. He has been accused of assault, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft and property damage.
Adamson is expected to be arraigned at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 2. A criminal hearing is set to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.
Court records revealed that Donald was indicted earlier in May. A criminal hearing for him has been set at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11. A pre-trial conference is expected to be held at 9 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2026, with a jury trial to begin at 9 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026.
