OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - Over the weekend, several arrests were made in a local attempt to crack down on shoplifting.

The Overland Park Police Department said Monday that it held a “Stop the Lift” operation from May 30-31. The initiative involved an increased presence of both uniformed and undercover officers and a “close collaboration with retailers.”

OPPD’s goal was to strengthen the department’s relationship with retailers and encourage them to report thefts quickly.

In total, seven people were arrested and several others were ed in regard to retail theft. OPPD said they gathered information on crime networks that may help them prevent future thefts.
