MOSBY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says its deputies were in the right place at the right time on Saturday when they saved a teen’s life.

According to the department, deputies were notified around 4:45 a.m. on May 31 that a missing or runaway teen might be at a Mosby, Missouri, home.

When the deputies arrived, they found the girl there with some other teens, but said she appeared to be having a seizure. The teen tried to get up and walk, but collapsed and became unresponsive.

The deputies realized her symptoms aligned with an opioid drug overdose, so they gave her a dose of the opioid antidote Narcan. Soon after, the deputies said she woke up and told them she felt better.

In the hospital, the teen told deputies she had taken a pill, but it wasn’t disclosed exactly what kind of pill it was.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
