BUTLER, Mo. (KCTV) - A 13-year-old boy is recovering in a nearby hospital after he ran into a utility pole while driving an ATV alongside a Missouri highway over the weekend.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, emergency crews were called to the area of Missouri Highway 52 and County Road 2501, west of Butler, with reports of an ATV crash.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 13-year-old boy from Butler had been driving a Honda ATV west on the shoulder of the highway when he hit a utility pole.
State Troopers noted that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The teen driver, who was not wearing a safety device at the time, was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
