First Warn Forecast: Another day near 90 with sun, First Warn for storms Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - We start this week feeling very summer-like, with high temperatures reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. With the heat and some humidity come storm chances. A First Warn is in place for Tuesday with several waves of rain and storms, severe storm potential, and heavy rainfall.
The low 80s are already back by lunch time with a breeze between 10 to 15 mph with some gusts to 30 mph. This southerly wind will help push out the haze in our atmosphere. High temperatures today range between 86 to 91 degrees. We will be dry throughout the day.
TUESDAY: Tuesday brings a First Warn for several rounds of rain and storms throughout the day. We have the chance for the morning commute, midday, and then the better chance to see heavy rainfall and strong to severe storms will be around dinner time and then into the overnight. There is a level 2/5 risk for severe storms encoming the majority of the area (including the metro). Damaging winds, hail, and one or two isolated tornadoes are possible. Rain and storm chances will then continue through the night and into early Wednesday morning. Heavy rainfall will be possible from this system, widespread areas of 1″ to 2″ of rain with isolated areas of 3″ possible.
Tuesday will bring cooler temperatures due to a cold front dropping through the area. High temperatures will only reach the upper 70s, BUT they will occur early Tuesday morning, and we will be in the low to mid 70s by the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY: Expect the lower to mid-70s to continue Wednesday afternoon. After the rain moves out in the morning, partly cloudy and dry conditions are expected throughout the day.
LATE WEEK: The rest of the work week continues with temperatures in the 70s and more rain and storm chances. We have a 30% chance on Thursday and a NEW First Warn is in place Friday for scattered rain and storms.
This weekend we return to the low 80s with isolated to spotty rain and thunderstorm chances.
