Metro area families urged to share stories of Medicaid’s impact at Town Hall
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A family-led organization in Kansas has invited community to share their stories of how Medicaid has impacted them at an Town Hall.
Little Lobbyists Kansas, a family-led organization that advocates for children with every type of disability, has invited community to share the impact Medicaid cuts would have on their families at a June 17 Town Hall. The event will take place at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7740 Lackman Rd., at 6 p.m.
Organization leaders noted that a budget ed by the U.S. House of Representatives includes more than $700 billion in cuts to Medicaid over the next decade. These cuts fund tax cuts for higher-income brackets.
If these cuts are allowed to take place, the Little Lobbyists said children with disabilities who rely on medicaid programs will be adversely impacted.
Local families have been invited to hear an update from the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas on pending legislation and their potential impacts. They have been encouraged to share stories of their lives and the ways that Medicaid has ed their disabled children.
The organization noted that the Town Hall is set to be held alongside a Capitol Hill event hosted by the national organization on that same day.
