Royals transfer Harvey to 60-day IL, set relievers for Thursday doubleheader

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Injury woes for Kansas City Royals reliever Hunter Harvey have continued, leading the club to make another transaction.
On Thursday, the Royals announced that Harvey is being transferred to the 60-day injured list. The 30-year-old from North Carolina who was a first-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right teres major strain.
The original move to the IL was made retroactive to April 8 and came following six appearances from Harvey and a 0.00 ERA. The Royals acquired Harvey in a trade with the Washington Nationals on July 14, 2024. He missed time due to injury during the 2024 season as well.
Due to a rainout on Wednesday night, the Royals and St. Louis Cardinals are scheduled to play a split doubleheader on Thursday. Right-handed reliever Andrew Hoffmann was optioned to Omaha but added as the Royals 27th man for the doubleheader.
In a corresponding move to Hoffmann’s option, right-handed pitcher Thomas Hatch was called up from Triple-A Omaha.
