School bus safety: How buses in your district compare to rest of Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Thousands of families rely on buses to get their children to and from school safely every day during the school year.
It’s up to inspectors who work for the Missouri State Highway Patrol to make sure all of those school buses are as safe as possible.
Each year every school bus goes through an inspection process. Inspectors check things like tires, brakes, signals, lights, and dozens of other things on every bus in operation. Each component has to inspection. The buses that fail inspection are pulled out of service until repairs are made.
The highway patrol just released the results of the 2025 inspections.
Each school district and charter school in the state is listed on the patrol’s website. It includes the number of buses inspected and the number that ed and failed inspection.
You can search the inspection list below to find out how the buses your children ride to school compare to other districts in the state.

Inspections from the past two years are also available on the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s website. The information will allow your to compare your school district’s progress from year to year.
Kansas also inspects school buses annually. The latest round of inspections will happen over the summer leading up to the new school year.
