NWS confirms EF1 tornado touched down south of De Soto
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down south of De Soto Saturday, causing damage to 53 buildings.
According to De Soto Rural Fire Protection District Chief Tom Fitzgerald, 53 buildings were damaged, with 12 being severely damaged. Fitzgerald said most of the damage was on Big River Heights and Wilson Hollow.

Fitzgerald said no injuries had been reported.
The National Weather Service had crews out in the area on Sunday morning, who confirmed an EF1 tornado had touched down. There were reports that wind speeds reached over 100 mph.
According to the NWS, the tornado had a 4.9 mile long path and a max width of 300 yards.
