(Gray News) – Moviegoers will have more of an opportunity to finish their snacks before the feature film even begins at AMC Theatres soon, according to several reports.

Starting July 1, AMC Theatres will run an additional ad with the already existing pre-movie commercials and movie trailers, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

Bloomberg first reported the news saying the new commercial will be a “platinum spot” with a cut of the sales going to AMC and the National CineMedia.

The decision comes as part of a new deal between the two entities, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“While AMC was initially reluctant to bring this to our theaters, our competitors have fully participated for more than five years without any direct impact to their attendance. This is a strong indication that this NCM pre-show initiative does not negatively influence moviegoing habits,” AMC said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

In recent years, AMC has looked to boost ticket sales with initiatives like Discount Tuesday and 20 percent off matinee pricing.
