KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police say a motorcyclist’s bike may have malfunctioned Tuesday, causing the driver to be ejected.

The Kansas City Police Department responded to Missouri Route 350 at Colbern Road shortly after 7 p.m. on June 10.

Officers learned the driver of a red Honda Goldwing was headed east on 350 Highway but was unable to manage the curves in the road, “possibly due to mechanical issues.” The motorcycle went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail, sending the driver off the bike.

KD noted the driver was wearing a helmet but suffered critical injuries. Their identity has not been released, but they are reportedly in the hospital in stable condition.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
